Blog Sale Bargains #11 | Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer - Fair Neutral

Thursday, 24 September 2015

Urban Decay is one of my all time favourite brands but that also means that I have a wishlist as long as Luffy's arm when he uses gum gum pistol. The naked concealer was at the top of said wishlist as I had heard some great things about it & I always have something on my face that needs to be concealed. With most high end products I didn't really want to pay full price just in case I didn't like it, so I turned to blog sales & a makeup group on Facebook where you can buy/sell your unwanted goodies. I eventually found someone selling it in exactly the shade I wanted for around £8-£10,  as it had barely been used I thought that was a pretty good price. I have been using it for quite a while now, so I think I should actually get round to telling you all what my thoughts are.

The concealer has a very lightweight but creamy consistency, it glides over every imperfection with ease [take that dry patches!] & blends into the skin beautifully. In terms of coverage I would say it falls into the medium to full category but once it has been blended it doesn't feel like your wearing much of anything & it just looks like you have naturally flawless skin. I have been using this as more of a highlighting concealer as it does an amazing job at brightening the skin but it also works really well on any redness/blemishes I may have. The concealer doesn't come with your typical doe foot applicator, instead it's a flat & flexible sponge tip that has just the right amount of product on it which means there is no double dipping required. The lasting power is kinda amazing - I usually apply my makeup around 10am, fast forward to bedtime it's probably around 1am - 2am..so I didn't really expect my makeup to look that great & for the most part it didn't. My concealer was the only thing that managed to hold it's own against the weather, my constant face touching & a few laughter induced tears. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't perfect but considering it had been on my face for around 16 hours, it looked pretty damn good. What makes it even more amazing is that it isn't prone to creasing, settling into fine lines or oxidising throughout the day.

This is an amazing concealer & I would definitely recommend it to everyone. If you don't fancy waiting until it pops up on a blog sale then it retails for £17.50 & you can get it from places like Feel Unique, John Lewis & Debenhams.

There are 8 shades available:
  • Fair Neutral
  • Light Warm
  • Light Neutral
  •  Medium Light Neutral
  •  Medium Neutral
  • Medium Dark Warm
  • Medium Dark Neutral
  • Dark Neutral

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush - Lovely Pink

Sunday, 13 September 2015

I have a love/hate relationship with Max Factor as more often that not their products don't really work for me. They not so recently brought out the Creme Puff Blushers which then lead to a million & one different reviews saying how amazing they are. The thing that really intrigued me was that they were supposed to be pretty good Hourglass dupes & as I would get insane guilt if I spent that much money on a single blush.. I gave into the blogger hype & for once I don't regret it.

There are six shades available:
  • Lovely Pink
  • Seductive Pink
  •  Nude Mauve
  •  Lavish Mauve
  •  Alluring Rose
  •  Gorgeous Berries

I chose the shade Lovely Pink as it looked like the best shade for my fair skin. It's a mix between pale pink & coral tones with subtle gold shimmer running through it.

The blush has a light, finely milled formula that is quite soft in texture & blends like an absolute dream. When applied it gives the cheeks a subtle flush of colour with a beautiful sheen that acts as a ever so natural highlight - it's perfect for minimal makeup days but if you want it to be a little more intense, it can easily be built up. As I'm quite lazy I like to find other uses for my makeup, one morning I applied this to other areas of my face - corners of my eyes, down the bridge of my nose etc. You're probably wondering why I did that & I'll tell you - If you sheer it out enough.. it just leaves the skin looking so bright & healthy. It can also be layered over other blushers to create a unique shade/add a little extra glow. The lasting power is pretty impressive - It stays put all day without the need to reapply even when the sun is trying to make me turn into a puddle.

All in all, I adore this blush! It's pigmented but you can sheer it out or build it up as much as you like, it leaves the skin looking fresh & healthy all day long & well... it's rather pretty isn't it.

Are you a fan of Max Factor? Do you think the Creme Blush is a Hourglass dupe?

The Netflix Tag

Thursday, 3 September 2015

I have quite a love/hate relationship with Netflix. I sign up - watch all of the films/tv shows that interest me - find nothing else - cancel my account - repeat. I don't have Netflix at the moment but I saw this tag on Annie Writes Beauty & as I'm currently thinking about signing up again, I thought I'd give it a go.

1. What are your favourite series' to watch on Netflix?
Grimm, Criminal Minds, Miranda, Numb3rs etc.

2. What are you currently watching on Netflix?
Nothing currently but I saw someone tweet that the 2nd season of The Originals is now on there. It's worth signing up for.

3. If you could have any series, old or new put on Netflix, what would it be?
I've really gotten into Hawaii Five-0 but I think season 5 is currently on TV. So.. if they could put season 1-4 on there, then that would be great.

4. What is your one peeve about Netflix?
When I'm trying to binge watch something & then Netflix asks "Are you still watching *insert tv show here*?" Yes, I'm still watching. Stop judgeing me, Netflix!

5. What are your essentials for a perfect night in with Netflix?
Comfy pjs, blanket/duvet, candles & snacks.

6. Recommend one series or film for someone else.
Grimm! It's AMAZING!!
