NOTD | Nude Sparkle

Tuesday, 26 May 2015

My obsession with Lancelot Place is still going strong. It's such a gorgeous silver, black & gold glitter that looks amazing over pretty much every nail polish shade. I decided to go for a matte nude polish. I was going to keep it simple but ended up applying a generous amount of Lancelot Place. I can't resist.. It's just so beautiful!

Shopping The Sample Stash

Wednesday, 20 May 2015

I have acquired quite a few tiny versions of beauty products & I will admit that they rarely get any love. The mini products I do use often have made themselves at home in my main makeup storage - I'm not sure how much use I would get out of them if they weren't easily reached for. I had a rummage through my little jar of samples & picked out a few products that I wanted to get more use out of.

Smashbox HD Concealer
The concealer has a thick & creamy consistency which means it covers every single blemish & blends like a dream. It has a medium coverage but it can be built up without it becoming cakey or feeling heavy on the skin. I have the shade Light but as you can probably see from the tube, it is not even close to that shade. I have found mixing it with another concealer really helps to make it a better shade for my skin without changing how the concealer applies or wears throughout the day.

Kat Von D Lipstick - Adora
The lipstick is a gorgeous metallic red. When I look at the bullet, there appears to be very subtle gold shimmer but this doesn't transfer onto the lips as far as I can tell. As the lipstick is insanely pigmented, you only need one swipe to get an opaque finish. It is long wearing, comfortable to wear & it doesn't bleed or feather.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer - Original
The eyeshadow primer has a very creamy, almost silk like texture. It has a nude tint to it that does help to neutralise the skin, making any redness or veins less noticeable. As I have oily lids, I don't find many primers that keep my eyeshadow in place all day long without creasing or fading but this one does the job so well. I find that you only need a small amount so even if you only have a sample size, it will last you for quite a long time.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
The primer is an oil-free, silicone based gel that feels very silky when applied to the skin. It blurs the appearance of pores/fine lines, helps my makeup to apply flawlessly & has dramatically improved how long my makeup lasts throughout the day. This little tube has lasted so well & I'm no where near finishing it as the tiniest bit goes such a long way.

Benefit Blush - Coralista
The blush is a mid toned coral shade with subtle gold shimmer. I like to use this when my skin looks a little dull as the shimmer gives me a warm healthy glow. It is buttery soft, easy to apply,  blends well & the pigmentation is amazing! You only need to lightly dust the brush over it & you have enough to give your cheeks a beautiful flush of colour.

No7 Beautiful Skin Hydration Mask

Friday, 15 May 2015

I have become quite obsessed with No7 products since getting the cleansing set for Christmas. Everytime I go onto the Boots website, I find a ton of things I would love to try. They have so many products that sound incredible.
No7 is an amazing brand - not only do they cater to every skin type but they have colour coordinated the packaging to what skin type it's meant for:
  •  Dry/Very Dry has lilac packaging
  • Normal/Dry has pink packaging
  • Normal/Oily has green packaging
It makes it so easy to find products that would work for you skin type. I not so recently picked up the No7 Beautiful Skin Hydration Mask  as the cold weather was taking its toll on my skin. I'm not usually one for masks, I don't really like how messy they can be & how stiff it becomes when dry. Although, making facial expressions to crack the mask will always amuse me. The Hydration Mask is in a league of it's own. There is no messy application & because it gets absorbed into the skin, it doesn't leave my face feeling uncomfortably tight.

The No7 Beautiful Skin Hydration Mask comes in a clear bottle & has a pump so you can dispense the right amount of product. I love that the mask has a swirled whipped cream look to it. It was very much a "Oooh, what's that?" moment when I saw it. It's magical.

The lady who works at the No7 counter in my local Boots recommended that I use the mask once a fortnight as I have dry skin but occasionally get days where it's more combination. It is created to help your dry skin behave like normal skin & if I use it more frequently, it could tip the scales so I would end up with more oily skin instead of balancing it out. I like to use it just after I have cleansed my skin - I pump a small amount onto the back of my hand & dot it around my face. I usually focus on the driest areas & apply what's left to the rest of my face. You can leave it on for 3-10 minutes depending on how intense you want the hydration boost to be. I change how long I leave it on for depending on how my skin is feeling that day. The drier & more uncomfortable my skin feels the longer I leave it on. I have also used this as an overnight mask. I apply it as normal & then as soon as I wake up, I splash water over my face. I only do this when I'm being super lazy my skin needs an extra moisture boost.

The mask comes out white but when when massaged into the skin, it turns clear. So, you don't have to worry about giving the postman/woman a fright when you open the door... [I've done that on more than one occasion. Oops] It has a creamy gel like formula that has a luxuriously silky feel to it. After I have rinsed it off with warm water, my skin is not only left feeling hydrated & beautifully soft but it just makes my skin look so healthy & radiant. What I like most about the mask is that it doesn't just temporarily give your skin a moisture boost like other masks do. It has long lasting effects, my skin is still dry but it feels & looks so much better. No more slathering a ridiculous amount of moisturiser on because it feels so uncomfortable.

The mask has worked wonders for my dry skin, even my boyfriend has noticed that my skin is softer. I also find that my makeup applies & looks so much better. It is amazing now but I know when Winter comes around in all it's freezing cold glory, it's going to be a life saver for my skin. I honestly can't fault this mask one bit! It's just so amazing! I definitely recommend trying it out if you have dry/very dry skin or if you know someone with that skin type, tell them about it right now. Go! What are you waiting for? You/your loved ones need this in your/their life. It's like a unicorn but in skincare product form. Magical, glorious & very pretty.

p.s No7 can be a little pricey but Boots always have amazing offers on & when the No7 vouchers come around, you can save quite a bit. Even without the boots offers or the money off vouchers, in my opinion their products are very much worth every single penny & I may be a little obsessed. My bank account is crying because I may or may not have a massive wishlist of just No7 products.

Are you a fan of No7? Have you tried this mask? I would love to know your thoughts.

I was supposed to post this quite a while ago but I ended up posting a different one for that day. Oops!

While I was applying my makeup, I rediscovered Mac's Satin Taupe. I don't wear eyeshadow very often, so it doesn't get as much love as it deserves. No7 Midnight Lash Mascara

Tuesday, 5 May 2015

I'm a sucker for glitter & sparkles, so I will admit that I was initially drawn to this mascara because of the packaging but it was worth the purchase as I was wowed from the very first application. I have quite a few mascaras on the go, so I usually change what mascara I'm using on a daily basis but I have been using this mascara every single day since purchasing it.

The mascara has a large & ever so slightly tapered brush that catches every single lash & lifts them, helping my eyes to appear larger & more awake. I go through fazes of wanting dramatic or not so dramatic lashes, so I tend to switch up my mascara often but this one is great for both - It defines, lengthens & adds volume, leaving my lashes looking full, fluttery & natural but you can layer it up for a more dramatic effect without the lashes becoming clumpy. I have tested my L'Oreal Micellar Water & No7 Melting Gel Cleanser seperately to remove the mascara & they both break it down really well - the cleanser does a better job but the micellar water does remove the bulk of it, so it would be a good option to start with if you double cleanse.

All in all, I can't fault this mascara one bit. I can use it on minimal makeup & slightly more done up days without having to layer different mascaras. It doesn't flake, smudge or irritate my eyes & it makes my lashes look fantastic. It retails for £13.50 which is usually more then I'd spend on a mascara but it is definitely worth every penny. Boots always have some sort of offer on, so you could end up getting it for much cheaper.

Are you a fan of No7 mascaras? What are your thoughts on Midnight Lash?
