Hothair Mermaid Ponytail

Monday, 30 March 2015

Most of my life I have always had long hair, so I was never interested in extensions. As my hair is now quite a bit shorter, I thought it would be interesting to see what all the fuss was about. I chose to just get a wrap around ponytail as I normally have my hair up. I really liked the look of the Mermaid Pony, it has a really nice wave to it which is fairly simalair to what my hair used to look like.

The hair piece is made from from high quality synthetic fibre that feels really soft & looks natural. It features a small comb & a velcro attachment to easily secure it to your ponytail.
I was quite unsure on what colour to get as my hair isn't quite blonde but it isn't quite brown either. Hothair offer a colour match service where you send them a recent photo of yourself so they can match your hair colour to a hair peice. They recommened Strawberry Twist for my hair colour which is a pretty decent match but it does quite a few large sections that are almost a white-blonde colour which I don't have in my hair.

The hair peice came with pretty simple instructions.

1, Tie your hair into a ponytail
2, Insert the comb into the top of your own ponytail.
3, Wrap the attached slice of hair around & secure with bobby pins.

I did find it quite difficult to attach the hair peice by myself but I think that may be down to this is my first experiance with any type of hair piece. I asked my boyfriend to attach the hair peice & it didn't seem to take him long at all.

I wore the hair peice for most of the day but it was starting to get really uncomfortable. It didn't seem to sit right & felt quite heavy which resulted in me getting a pretty bad headache. I tried it again a few days later & the same thing happened. I don't think this is down to the hair peice at all as I normally get headaches when I wear headbands for to long.

The hair peice is great quality & I think it looked pretty nice but it just didn't work for me. Although if you're interested in that type of thing, definitley give it a go because it could work for you.

What I've Bought #24

Monday, 23 March 2015

Last week I popped into Boots to repurchase a few products. I could gain £5 worth of points if I spent a certain amount & as I'm trying to save up enough points for a extra special treat, I couldn't pass it up. I then popped in later that day as the lady gave me a no7 voucher where I could get £5 off a skincare product & £3 off a makeup product. How could I say no?!

There was a 3for2 offer on skincare, so I decided to repurchase the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Buttercream & the No7 Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser. I still have haven't finished the ones I'm currently using but as I have been using them everyday without fail, I thought it would be good to have a back up. I also picked up the No7 Beautiful Skin Hydration Mask. I'm really excited to use this as my skin has become extra dry with the cold weather sticking around, so hopefully it will work wonders.

I have nearly scraped the last bit out of my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, so I thought it was time to pick up another. I have noticed that this one seems to be a little darker than usual,  I don't know if there was something wrong with the one I bought or the label was wrong. it's still a great match for my skin but not as brightening as usual.

I used the last of my Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Powder before I went shopping, I loved how it set my makeup & how velvety soft it made my skin feel. I definitely had to pick up another! There was a 3for2 off on S&G, so I also picked up two products that I've wanted for a while. The Archery Brow Pencil & Brush & the Supercat Eyeliner Pen. I'm really excited to use these as I've heard amazing things about them.

I was just £8 away from getting the £5 worth of points & I really didn't know what to pick up. I spotted this really cute Burts Bees Basic Honey Set. I've only tried one of their products & quite enjoyed it, so I thought it might be worth trying. It contains a Honey Lipbalm & a Honey & Grapeseed Hand Cream, both will be very handy for my dry skin & they are perfect handbag sizes. I was still around £2 away & then I remembered there was a particular Barry M Nail Polish that I needed to get my hands on - Vintage Violet. It's the perfect shade for me & I have confessed my love for Barry M quite a few times on here.

When I popped back in, I told myself I was only allowed to buy two No7 products as I had the voucher & nothing else. I actually had some willpower & once I finished chatting to the lovely No7 lady, I left as quickly as possible to save my bank account anymore heartache. I would like to quickly touch on how amazing the customer service was, she seemed genuinely interested in my skin concerns & tried to pick the best products for me.

Now, on to the products! I could get £3 off a makeup product & I knew exactly what that was going to be. The No7 Midnight Lash Mascara just had to be mine. It's been featured on a wishlist, added to my Boots basket many times & I've read a million reviews. It's beautiful packaging initially drew me in but I've tried it a few times & it's love! For the skincare part, I didn't really know what to get but after a chat with the No7 lady, she recommended the No7 Calm Skin Redness Relief Balm to help with my redness. I've also used this a few times & I have noticed a small difference. Hopefully with continued use, it will calm down the redness enough for people to stop asking what has happened to my face when I don't wear makeup.

No7 Complete Cleansing Set

Wednesday, 18 March 2015

If you read my Christmas Bits & Pieces post then you will know that I recieved the No7 Complete Cleansing Set. I have wanted to try out the cleansing brush for quite a while but always ended up talking myself out of buying it. I have been using it every night in my skincare routine & I really wish I got it sooner.

The set contains the Cleansing brush, Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser & Beautiful Skin Night Cream.

The cleansing brush has two settings - the first is mild & the second is a little more intense. On an everyday basis, I use the first setting but when I want a deeper clean, the second setting works a treat. The bristles are really soft & even though I have dry skin that can be a little sensitive, it hasn't irritated it at all. I have been using the brush for a few months, I have noticed quite a big difference in how my skin feels & the appearance of my pores. You only need to cleanse your face for 60-90 seconds for it to feel & look incredible clean & soft.

The Melting Gel Cleanser has a thick gel consistency that transforms into more of a oil/milk when it comes in contact with water. When rinsed away it has removed all traces of makeup & daily grime without much product or time needed. Saying that you can massage this cleanser into your skin all day if you wanted to, it doesn't disappear. This makes it a great product when your in need of a good facial massage. The thing I love most about this cleanser is that it doesn't strip my skin, it contains rosehip oil & almond oil which helps to mosturise my skin instead of leaving it tight & dry.

The Night Cream has quite a thin, gel like consistency. I would normally go for a thicker cream to help with my dry skin but this leaves my face feeling incredibly soft & moisturised with only a small amount needed. It is enriched with rosehip oil to lock in moisture & No7's unique multivitamin & mineral blend to energise skin. When I wake up, my skin feels as wonderful as it did when I went to sleep - soft, smooth & moisturised. I have noticed that my skin looks healthier & more radiant. The thing I love most about this moisturise is how quickly it sinks in, I usually do my skincare just before I go to bed so it's nice to not have my face sticking to my pillow.

The Melting Gel Cleanser & Night Cream are both Hypo-Allergenic, so they are kind to even the most sensitive skin.

Unfortunately, I think this set is only available around Christmas but you can purchase all three of these products separately.

Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts?

Loving Lately #7

Makeup Revolution Flawless Eyeshadow Palette.
The palette contains 32 neutral eyeshadows that are a mix between matte, shimmers & glittery shades. The quality of the eyeshadows is fantastic - they have amazing pigmentation, blend like a dream, stay crease free all day long & there is only a small amount of fall out which can be easily swept away with a fluffy brush. I think this palette would be great for people who love to experiment with makeup but also for the people who are just starting out as it has all the shades you need to go from a subtle day look to a bold night look without having to use a bunch of different palettes.

Beauty UK Blush - Halo.
The blush is a very light pink with bronze veining, when applied to the skin it creates a subtle champagne shade that works perfectly as a highlight. It has a very silky finish which makes it a dream to blend, it has finely milled shimmer that gives the skin a natural looking healthy glow & it doesn't draw any attention to my pores, dry skin etc. I use this to highlight my cheekbones, cupid's bow, brow bone & bridge of my nose.

Garnier BB Cream - Light.
The BB Cream has quite a thick creamy consistency but it blends like an absolute dream. It feels really lightweight on the skin, adds a healthy looking glow & has a light to medium coverage. I was a little worried about the shade as it looks a little darker than I expected but when applied, it seems to adapt to the skin after a few minutes as my skin still looks as pale but more even & the redness has been toned down. I have found that this lasts better without a primer but it doesn't sink into pores or make my dry skin stand out.

FCUK Friction Perfume.
I'm not the best at describing fragrances but when I tested this perfume in the store I immediately thought of cocktails - it's a little sweet but also has a sexy edge to it. The lasting power is amazing! I first spayed it at 11am & it had only faded slightly by around 5pm. If you do want to top it up, it layers really well - it doesn't have an overly strong scent even if you get a little spray happy like I do. The bottle is what initially drew me in, it's beautiful! I love the shape, the pineapple cut glass detail & how lightweight the bottle feels.

What I've Bought #23

Monday, 2 March 2015

I recently popped into town to pick up some new beauty products as I still had some Boots coupons/points left. I usually don't get around to using my coupons as I usually only remember I have them after I've finished paying for my goodies but as I want to save up enough points to either get some Origins Skincare or keep them for Christmas to get some of the amazing sets that come out. I'm not sure if points expire, so if you know then please let me know.

Rimmel are my go to for foundations as they are actually pale enough for my skin. I have been loving their matte bb cream as it gives great coverage & doesn't cling to my dry patches, so I was really excited to give their radiance bb cream a go. My skin is looking a little dull lately, so hopefully this does the trick. You could pick any two Rimmel products for £10 & I just happened to have £11 on my advantage card...meant to be? I think so. I decided to pick up the Wonder'full mascara as I've heard some pretty good things about it. I got the extreme black version, mainly because I thought the packaging would be easier to photograph but as you can see it didn't go so well.

I then popped back in after I finished buying all of the chocolate goodies from B&M because I remembered there was a few Maybelline bits I wanted to try. I picked up the Brow Satin Eyebrow Pencil. I was quite intrigued by it as it has a gel like pencil on one end & a powder applicator on the other end. I'm going to let you in on a little secret.... I LOVE IT! The short amount of time that I've had it, I just haven't wanted to use anything else. The packaging however I hate! The writing has completely come off & everytime I use it, I get black residue all over my hands. The lid for the powder is nearly completely clear. D: I also picked up the Lash Sensational Mascara. From what I've heard so far, it mainly gives length but does add a bit of volume. I haven't tried a lot of Maybelline mascaras, so I'm excited to give this a go. As it was a 3for2 offer on Maybelline products, I picked up the Eraser Eye Concealer as I've wanted to try it for so long. I was a little worried the colour would be to dark for my skin but if I buff it out really well, it's a good enough match.

So, that's everything I have recently bought from Boots. If there is anything that you think I should try, then please let me know in the comments.

Have you picked up any new beauty goodies lately? Are any of these products your favourites?
