Loving Lately #1

Friday, 31 January 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I thought I would talk about three products that I have been loving lately. Two of these products featured in my latest haul but I have been using them every day since I got them.

L'Oreal BB Powder
This is a very light, finely milled powder. For me personally it doesn't have enough coverage to be used on it's own but it makes an amazing setting powder. It leaves my skin looking even, gives a semi matte finish & makes my make up last all day. The compact contains a mirror & a sponge underneath the powder, these two features makes it incredibly easy to touch up on the go if needed.

 Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara
This mascara has a very light formula, it adds lots of volume & length but doesn't get clumpy or make my lashes feel crispy. The brush is quite flexable so it makes it easier to apply, the brush head is also quite large which can be messy for some but I find that it grabs every lash & gives them an even coating.

Revlon Grow Luscious Lash Liner  - Onyx
This liner is specifically designed to line your lash line to create fuller looking lashes. The formula feels very creamy, has incredible pigmentation & applies like a dream - no tugging at all. I managed to get an even line on both eyes as it is so easy to apply & it stays in place all day, no smudging what-so-ever!

Excuse my face looking a little patchy, it doesn't look like that in real life D:

Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts?

Hey Dolls.
This week I have found that I have had the urge to purchase a few products. I have wanted some of them for quite a while but this week I have been reading lots of reviews & generally just lusting after them.

Have you tried any of these products? What's on your wishlist?

Kat Von D Lock-It Longwear Foundation - L44

Wednesday, 29 January 2014

Hey Dolls.
I adore Kat Von D, she is an amazing artist & her make up is always flawless. So when I found out that she brought out her own make up range, I prayed it would come to the UK but as it is exclusive to Sephora..It probably isn't going to happen [sadface!]
When I was having one of my usual blog sale browses I saw that someone was selling a unused bottle of Kat Von D's Lock-It Longwear Foundation..I snapped it up almost instantly. I have had this in my possession for quite a while now, so I thought it was about time I shared my thoughts with you all.

The Lock-It Longwear foundatin claims to be full coverage, transfer resistant, fragrance & oil free, gives a matte finish & 24 hours wear. That is a lot to live up to but I can tell you that it does indeed live up to it's claims. I haven't worn it for a full 24 hours but it does last perfectly for 17 hours [8am - 1am].

The shade range is amazing! Not only are there shades for every skin tone but they also have included shades for your specific undertone. The one I have is L44 - it is designed for ladies with beige undertones. I personally have pick undertones but saying that the foundation still matches well & doesn't look to out of place.

The foundation is quite thick but it is very creamy & blends like a dream. I find the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush works best when blending the foundation. It is very full coverage, so I only use one pump for my entire face as any more could risk it becoming cakey. It dries down to a matte finish but gives the skin a slight glow, it's not drying on the skin & doesn't make any problem areas stand out. As this foundation is for beige undertones, I didn't expect it to be perfect for my skintone but it is incredibly good. If I can get my hands on the shade L42 then it would be perfect. I can get away with wearing this foundation as it is only a tad darker. I also find that I only apply concealer to brighten my eyes as it covers my dark circles & blemishes like a dream. What I love most about this foundation is even though it is a thick foundation, it doesn't feel heavy on the skin & it makes my face silky smooth. The foundation is indeed transfer resistant as the first time I used it, I wore a white shirt. With some of my other foundation there would be a little transfer but with this...absolutely nothing.

One thing that did concern me, it that after I had bought it I read a few reviews & one in particular stood out - the woman said that the foundation broke her out horrendously & even though I don't have acne prone skin or have regular break outs, I was quite hesitant to use it. But after using it for a few days & not having any break outs whatsoever - I fell totally in love with this foundation.

I am incredibly impressed with the foundation, it has become my HG product for when I feel like I need that extra coverage. I would love to try more from the range, so hopefully it will come to the UK or I find some products on blog sales soon.

Have you tried any products from the Kat Von D range? What are your thoughts?

Mua Undressed Palette

Tuesday, 28 January 2014

Hey Dolls.
I have had my eye on this palette for the longest time, while browsing on Superdrug I saw that it was finally in stock so I added one to my basket faster than you can say 'mine'. I have been using this palette nearly everyday since it got delivered to my home, it took a lot for me to take photos before using it.

Like most palettes from Mua, the shades are contained in a black plastic case with a black & transparent lid. It is sturdy & doesn't take up much space, being able to see the shades without opening the case is a great feature. All Mua palettes come with a double ended foam applicator, they aren't the best brushes in the world but it's the thought that counts.

The Undressed palette contains 10 shimmer shades & 2 matte shades, it also has a good range of colours, mostly neutral but it contains a few deeper shades to. The shades are highly pigmented, buttery soft & apply like a dream. There is minimal fall out but that is easy enough to quickly sweep away. The lasting power is incredible, they last all day without creasing or fading. This palette is amazing for both day & night looks.

I thought I'd include swatches of the four shades I have been loving the most.

 Shade 2, 9, 6 & 4.

Are you a fan of Mua? What is your favourite palette?

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

Monday, 27 January 2014

Hey Dolls.
In my recent haul, I featured the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. I have been using this for a few days now & thought it was about time I shared my thoughts.

The packaging is lovely, Maybelline have stuck with the bright, eyecathing theme like they did with the baby lips. It is a small squeezy tube with a nozzle applicator - these two features makes it both travel friendly & more hygienic.

Maybelline Baby Skin is a clear silicone based gel primer that promises to leave skin fresh, soft and protected while also helping to blur enlarged pores & fine lines. I can definitely say it does what it says on the tin, my skin feels smooth & my pores are visibly reduced. My foundation glides onto the skin with ease & it prolongs any products I apply over it. A little bit of this primer really does go a long way, the small amount of product on my hand in the photo above covers my entire face. As it has a silky gel like formula it glides over the skin smoothing out any problem areas, I find my dry skin isn't an issue when I use it. This primer is fragrance free, lightweight & enriched with cherry extracts.

All in all, I really like the primer - it is a great alternative to the Benefit POREfessional but hasn't quite taken HG status. It retails at £7.99 which is a great price & is currently included in a buy 1 get 2nd half price offer.

What are your thoughts on the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer?

Five Favourite Things.

Sunday, 26 January 2014

Hey Dolls.
So today's post is going to be a little different..I ramble on & on about all the beauty items I love pretty much all the time. So I thought why not share a few favourites that have nothing to do with make up or skincare. These five things are just going to be items that I adore.

Now You See Me & Warm Bodies | These two films are possibly the best films I have seen in a long time, they are both incredible.

My 3DS & Legend Of Zelda A Link Between Worlds | I adore my 3DS, I have a few games for it but my favourite right now has to be The Legend Of Zelda A Link Between Words. It's such a great game that has me hooked for hours.

Slipper Boots | I get freezing so quickly so one of my favourite things is slipper boots, currently I adore these bright pink fluffy ones. They are so warm & comfy.

My Ipod & Skullcandy Earphones | I take these everywhere! I hate nothing more than sitting on a bus or walking somewhere on my own with no music. I've also never felt the need to upgrade the Ipod, it works amazingly well & doesn't take up much space at all.

A Notebook & Pen | I make a lot of lists - Products I want to try, things to blog about, birthdays & other occasions or even what I'm planning to buy for the next month. I also like to doodle & write down things I need to remember.

So those are a few of my non-beauty favourites. What are your five favourite things?

What I've Bought #14

Saturday, 25 January 2014

Hey Dolls.
So a few days/weeks or so ago I made a few sneaky orders, I won a £50 John Lewis Voucher, found an amazing bargain on a blog sale & bought a few products from Superdrug.

The two products I got from John Lewis was the YSL Set, it contains the well hyped Touche Eclat, a mascara & a youth serum. This has gone down to around £22-£25. I also picked up a 44ml Benefit POREfession for £29.50 only £5 more than the 22ml so I really couldn't say no, it has been my favourite primer for a while & I'm so excited that I finally have a full size version.

Then I saw on Twitter that someone was selling a Clinique primer for around £7.50, it either hasn't been used at all or hardly used. The only I have is for dull skin, I can't wait to use it as my skin isn't looking it's best at the moment.

The last few products were from Superdrug, I made an order after seeing that the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer was on their website, it was also a buy one get second half price offer so I also picked up the Plush Mascara. I then decided to pick up the L'Oreal BB Powder after reading some amazing reviews & then I also decided to get the Mua Undressed palette as I have wanted it for so long. Then I popped into superdrug while I was out & about & saw the the Garnier eye roll on was down to £1.99 & it was in the shade very fair. I already have one of these but since comparing the shades this one is a much better match for me.

Reviews of everything will be up soon, I have been using the products from superdrug so keep an eye out for those. (:

No7 Cleansing Body Polish & Cocooning Body Balm

Friday, 24 January 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I thought I would talk about two products that have made this harsh Winter weather not so bad. In my stocking I found two products from No7 - the Cleansing Body Polish & Cocooning Body Balm. I have never tried any skincare products from No7 before so I was incredibly excited to be able to use them.

The Cleansing Body Polish is a thick gel packed with tons of tiny exfoliating particles. It is gentle enough to use everyday but still gets rid of any dry skin without causing irritation. I found that a little bit really does go a long way as it lathers nicely making the product easy to apply. My skin looks much nicer & still feels soft days after use.

The Cocooning Body Balm is a ultra hydrating lotion that has a light texture. It leaves my skin with a lasting layer of softness without feeling greasy or heavy & absorbs almost instantly. The balm does have a subtle fresh scent, it doesn't linger on the skin for long which is nice if you want to use other fragrances. I found that you only need to use a tiny amount as it is so hydrating.

I have really been enjoying using both these products, my skin looks so much nicer & feels a lot better. I definitely recommend them.

My Most Worn Rings

Thursday, 23 January 2014

Hey Dolls.
So it's safe to say that I never used to be a fan of rings, I couldn't keep them on for more than 10 minutes & would rather spend my money on earrings & the occasional necklace but then something changed..I wanted to buy some amazing rings & manage to keep them on. So I did & now as I am typing this with my most favourite rings on my fingertips, I thought I would share them with you.

Black Cross Ring from Kukee | Gold Chevron Ring from Ebay | Gold Crossover Midi Ring - River Island | Gold & Bronze Finger Tip Chevron Rings - New Look | Gold Band & Chain Rings - Asos

I tend to change what fingers I'm wearing these beauties on but I'm guaranteed to have a few or all of them on. I find rings give that little extra confidence..it sounds strange but like some women say they feel like they can conquer the world with the right lipstick..well for me..I feel like I can conquer the world with my rings on.

What are your favourite rings?

Collection Shimmer Shades - Way To Glow

Wednesday, 22 January 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I thought I'd review the Collection Shimmer Shades - Way To Glow, I received this as one of my secret santa gifts & I adore it. I will say that I don't use it for what it's intended for.

Collection Shimmer shades is supposed to be a multi purpose highlighter/blush/bronzer all in one compact. It contains four individual shades to create a subtle radiant glow on your face..but I don't use it for that, I use them individually as a highlight/eyeshadow & blush. As I am very pale, I didn't think swirling the shades together would look very good on my skin tones so instead I have mostly been using them to create an eye look I have become quite obsessed with.  I use the white champagne shade as an all over lid shade, I also use it as a blending colour. I use the warm bronze shade on the middle of the eyelid & then the cool bronze shade on the outer third of the eyelid. I also occasionally use the peachy pink shade as a subtle blush when I just want a little pinch of colour. The shades are finely milled, soft  & have a subtle shimmer running through them. The pigmentation is great & there is no fall out to be seen - not to mention that the lasting power of the shades is incredible.

All in all, I am incredibly impressed with the quality of the shimmer shades, I am so thankful to Jem for picking out this wonderful product for me (:

Are you a fan of Collection Shimmer Shades? Have you used it as a face highlight/bronzer/blush trio?

Guest Post | The Perfect Foundation?

Tuesday, 21 January 2014

Hi there! My name is Holly from Hollybeee and I'm going to be doing a guest post for Ash today (:

The perfect foundation: we all look for it, but how many have actually found it..? I think I might have! The Revlon Colourstay foundation has been a favourite of mine for a long time now, but only as I try out others do I realise how fabulous it really is.

How long does it stay put?

This foundation stays on the whole day! So that's about ten hours! That is, though, only if you don't touch your face or rest your face on your hands... that instantly takes off all my makeup so I make sure to stay away from that! I put this foundation on everyday for school and when I get home it looks exactly like it did in the morning.

Coverage, blending, oiliness?

Super good coverage, I wouldn't say it covers everything but we can't expect miracles! In regards to blending and oiliness it blends perfectly into my skin and when it dries it doesn't change colour, which is a definite bonus! I haven't noticed any oiliness but then I always set my foundation with a pressed powder, so I'm not sure how well this copes with no powder.

Consistency & applying it

It's a liquidy sort of foundation which can definitely run off of your hand and stain things! (Be careful about that!) I like to pour some out onto my hand and then dot it onto my face with my fingers. Then I go in with a Sigma flat top kabuki and I blend and buff it in.

Packaging & Price

I like the look of the packaging, but it would be so much more convenient if it had a pump, not just a screw top. But that's only a minor problem: nothing to take away from my love of this foundation! The price is around £7-£8 online and then £12.49 in boots. I would definitely recommend going to boots to pick out the colour, and then ordering it online, just because of the money saving. I have the shade 150 buff and it matches my skin tone perfectly. I think there are around twenty shades so hopefully there is the perfect shade out there for you! Definitely test the colour at boots or super drug before purchasing to check it matches (there is nothing than a foundation that's unusable because it's in the wrong shade!) I bought mine from super drug for the same price and even though it's on the higher end of the spectrum of hughstreet makeup prices, I feel it is definitely worth it.

All in all it's a brilliant foundation that I definitely recommend you try out!

Urban Decay Brow Box - Honey Pot

Monday, 20 January 2014

Hey Dolls.
Today I thought I'd review possibly one of the most exciting Christmas presents I received & that is the Urban Decay Brow Box - Honey Pot. I have been lusting after this for a while & couldn't believe my eyes when I unwrapped it.

The Urban Decay Brow Box is everything you need to achieve perfect brows. It comes packaged in a deep purple compact box complete with two mirrors on each drawers - one normal & one magnified. On the top drawer, it has two brow powders & a brow wax & on the bottom drawer, it has two angled brushes & a pair of tweezers.

The two shades can be mixed together or used on their own, I personally use the lighter shade on the right as I find it is a tad to dark when mixed with the darker shade. The brow powders are well pigmented, very soft & blend well. The wax holds the brows in place all day but doesn't leave them feeling crispy. The tools are also amazing, the tweezers are angled & sharp & even though they are a little stiff, they grip the hairs well. The angled brushes pick up the colour well & even though they are quite small, I find they give me a more precise application.

The Brow Box is incredible, not only is everything amazing quality but it is also perfect for on the go as you have everything you could possibly need & is incredibly sturdy so nothing will fall out or get ruined while it's in your make up bag,

Are you a fan of Urban Decay? What brow products do you use?
