My First Models Own Purchase

Saturday, 31 August 2013

Hey Dolls.
I have wanted a Models Own polish for so long but for some reason I never got round to picking one up but while I was purchasing a few bits from Superdrug I saw that they had Snowflakes in stock. This specific nail polish has been on my wishlist list for months, I am so happy that I've finally got my hands on it & after using it a few times I thought I'd share my thoughts.

'Stay on-trend right down to the tips of your toes. Creamy or pearly, glittery or neon, all our nail polishes glide on smoothly and are hardwearing and long lasting. Designed for fashion – and fun!'

Snowflakes comes in a standard glass bottle with a white plastic lid, allowing you to fully see the polish within. The brush is quite thin but dispenses just enough product to cover the nail in two swipes. Snowflakes is a clear topcoat with a mix of transparent white gold flakes, it reminds me off little pieces of imitation snow you get in a snow globe & then makes me excited for Winter/Christmas. It is quite thick & the first time I used it, it took a while to get used to but it does leave a lovely finish on the nails. The flakes can make it look/feel a little bumpy but I've found when you use a good topcoat it becomes smooth within a matter of minutes, I have used this over so many different nail polish shades & it has looked amazing on all of them. I am really impressed with the quality & how long it lasted on my nails - four days. It might have lasted longer but I must admit..I started picking it off.. I know.. I know.. major bad habit!

I will definitely be picking up more shades from Models Own, they are affordable at only £5 each & you can also get the collections in box set for only £20. Bargain!

Do you love Models Own? Which shades do you love?

What I've Bought #7

Friday, 30 August 2013

 Hey Dolls.
I have recently made some sneaky purchases & as it was Mine & Matt's 2 year anniversary on the 28th I thought I would share what he bought me in this little post to.

When I spotted this in Boots, I couldn't say no. You get three mini Smashbox Primers - Photo Finish Foundation Primer, Photo Finish Lid Primer & Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer for only £14. Now that is definitely a bargain as all three full sized products would come to £61. I haven't tried any of these products yet but as I have read quite a few amazing reviews, I'll hopefully love them.

This is what Matt gave me for our anniversary, I am a huge Taylor Swift fan & I adore the original Wonderstuck perfume. It is a slightly sweeter fruity scent but like Wonderstruck it lasts all day & is perfect for Summer.

Coral Reef is a gorgeous orangey-red cream blush, I am yet to even swatch this but from the reviews I've read it is amazingly pigmented, easy to blend & perfect for Summer. Hopfully it will be worth the hype.

I have been lusting after this for so long, it is a gorgeous powdery blue shade with a tiny amount of shimmer. The formula is lovely, it applied evenly & streak free & has a lovely glossy finish.

I adore mint..everything, I have a few mint polishes in my collection now but this one is so different. It is a gorgeous pale mint shade, it applied even & streak free in two fast drying coats & it has a subtle shine.

So that's everything beauty related that I picked up & my gift from Matt.

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think? Have you picked up any beauty/fragrance bargains lately? (:

New Storage - Ikea Helmer

Tuesday, 27 August 2013

Hey Dolls.
I have wanted new storage for quite some time as the small plastic four drawer unit was literally over flowing. I originally wanted the Ikea Alex but at £90 I just couldn't part with the money, I then spotted the Ikea Helmer for only £25. You can choose from White, Yellow, Silver & Red, I chose the white one as I have a pretty nuetral themed bedroom except for my sofa which you can see a little of in the photo below. The Helmer has 6 drawers, they are quite deep & long so you can fit quite a lot of products in them, I have used five of the drawers so far. The first three are face, eyes & lip products, the fourth is random skincare/fake lashes & make up setting sprays & the fifth drawer stores my nail polishes. I was going to get separate storage for my nail polishes but I think they look quite nice in the Helmer. On top I store my toothbrush/toothpaste & mouthwash, Cleanser, toner, moisturiser & lip scrub & my cotton pads & cotton buds. I also have a mist bottle of green tea as I read something somewhere online that it's supposed to be good for the skin. I haven't used it & may possibly just wash it out, if anyone knows if that is actually true or not please do let me know. Also the Helmer comes with wheels so it will be easy to move around if needed & I do suggest getting non slip mats as nothing stays where I put it especially my polishes, I haven't gotten around to getting this yet but will very soon as it is driving me slightly insane. I would also like to mention that you do have to put it together yourself but as Matt did it for me I can't comment on how easy/difficult it was but it took him just over half an hour to assemble everything.

So that's my new storage, I really love it. I have alot more space on the unit next to it for my mirror, brushes & everyday essentials. You can't see it in the photo but its just left of the Helmer.

How do you store your make up?

Nip + Fab Shine Fix Mattifying Gel

Hey Dolls.
When I was on my spending ban I only slipped up once & that was because Asos had the Nip+Fab Party Rescue Set on offer for £8.50, I am totally ashamed that I slipped up mainly because I have only now started using it..I purchased it in April :/ It is no longer in stock on the Asos website so I'm not sure when/if you will be able to get it. I was going to review the whole set in one post but I have only been using one product regularly & that is the Nip+Fab Shine Fix.

'A light gel that removes + absorbs excess oil flow to control t-zone shine. Shine Fix contains: Microsponges to mattify & absorb excess surface oil, Seboclear purifies & deep cleans pores  & Nettle tones & balances skin.'

I have rather strange skin, I have dry skin but for one or two days I'll have oily skin & as we have been having super hot weather lately I want to keep the shine at bay. I have been using the shine fix every morning for about a week now & I thought it was finally time to share my thoughts with you.

It comes packaged in a simple white tube with blue detailing, it has a tiny squeeze tip applicator so you can control how much product you dispense. It’s a sleek, thin tube, that is travel friendly.
The mattifying gel comes packaged in a simplistic white tube with blue detailing (as I’ve mentioned before with the Nip + Fab line, blue usually means “face” and green means “body”).  It has a tiny squeeze tip applicator so you can control how much product you need. It’s a sleek, thin tube, so it’s totally purse or pocket friendly! - See more at: http://www.beautezine.com/nip-fab-shine-fix-review-photos-swatches/#sthash.XedQIrDZ.dpuf

Nip + Fab Shine Fix Shine Fix is a translucent gel which dries to a matte finish when applied to the skin. I personally like using this as more of a touch up product because even though it does mattify the skin & absorb excess oil really well, it doesn't last all day so I find it works better when it's touched up occasionally. The gel sinks in really quickly & doesn't leave a sticky/greasy residue on the skin, it works really well under & over make up & is unscented. I find that the gel has helped a lot with keeping the shine away & as you only need to use a tiny amount, it will last for a long time.

Are you a fan of Nip+Fab? What's your favourite way to keep the shine at bay?

Blog Sale Bargains #2

Monday, 26 August 2013

Hey Dolls.
I love a good blog sale especially when there are amazing bargains to be had. I recently picked up three nail polishes from a blog sale, I'm not sure who's it was as I googled it & opened about 10 aha.
Back to the polishes, I picked up Ciate - the glossip, Gosh - Peachy & the L'Oreal Confetti Top Coat. I think it came to under £10 with p+p, considering Ciate retail at £9 each - it was a huge bargain.

Ciate - The Glossip is a orange/coral shade, the formula is lovely, easy to apply & completely opaque in two fast drying, streak free coats.

Gosh - Peachy is a peachy/pale orange shade, the formula is quite thin, so you need two to three coats for it to be completely opaque & streak free, it dries pretty fast & has a lovely glossy finish.

L'Oreal - Confetti Top Coat is a clear polish with matte black & white particles. It dries quite quickly & look lovely on any nail polish shade.

Have you had any bargains this week?

Urban Decay Primer Potion

Sunday, 25 August 2013

Hey Dolls.
As I ordered two Urban Decay products from Debenhams a while ago, I received a sample of the original Primer Potion which dries in to an invisable finish. You can choose from three other primer potions depending on the effect & finish you want. Greed - Gold Shimmer,  Eden - Yellow tinted with a matte finish & Sin - Champagne Shimmer.

The primer potion is packaged in a metallic lilac easy-to-squeeze tube, with a needle point tip so you can control how much you dispense. The primer is a creamy nude shade that dries clear, it feels very light & silky when applied to the skin & it blends effortlessly to create a smooth flawless base for your eyeshadow. I have quite oily lids & as we have been having really hot weather lately, I've found my Mua primer isn't working as well as it usually does but with the primer potion it intensify the shades, keeps them crease free & makes them stay put all day even in our never seen before boiling weather. I also occasionally apply this on it's own, as it covers any imperfection on your lids making them appear flawless. You only need the teeny tiniest amount, I've used this everyday since I received it & I haven't even made a dent. I have noticed it has a subtle scent to it but I can't seem to put my finger on what it is, it's not unpleasent but its..different. If any of you know what the scent is, please let me know. (:

I am really impressed with the Urban Decay Primer Potion & may pick up a full sized one when if this one ever runs out.

Do you love Urban Decay? What are your thoughts on the primer potion?

Fudge Urban Texture Blaster

Saturday, 24 August 2013

Hey Dolls.
I always want to add a bit of extra texture to my hair so when I stumbled across the Texture Blaster by Fudge Urban I thought I'd give it a try as I was so impressed by the Sea Salt Spray [ read review here ] & the Miracle Moisture Stuff. [ review coming soon ] I have used it a couple of times now so I thought I would share my thoughts with you.

I have super thick, long, curly/wavy hair which seems to never want to hold any sort of volume for long periods of time, I leave the house with lovely hair that has lots of volume & texture & then by the time I come home my hair looks deflated. I'm already a huge fan of Fudge Urban & I have wanted to pick this up for a while now so as it was on offer in Superdrug for only £3.47 instead of £6.99..well..it would have been rude not to pick it up. This is great for when my hair is up or down, it adds an amazing amount of texture & volume to my hair that lasts all day but you do have to be light handed with this product as if you spray to much it can leave your hair looking a little greasy. I can now style my hair however I want without feeling like all the effort isn't worthwhile, I've used this spray on fishtail plaits, big messy buns & high ponytails & they have all looked so much better & lasted longer throughout the day. Like most Fudge Urban Products it has a quite strong coconut smell, it does become much more subtle throughout the day.

All in all, I am really impressed with the texture blaster & will definitely repurchase when this one runs out.

Have you tried any products from Fudge Urban?

Etude House Water Colour Blush - Apricot & Sweet Recipe Candy Stick - Orange

Friday, 23 August 2013

Hey Dolls.
I have recently been loving the selection of Korean beauty brands on Ebay & as I have heard so many great things about Etude House, I just couldn't resist picking some products up. I went for the Water Colour Blush - Apricot & the Sweet Recipe Candy Stick - Orange

Water Colour Blush - Apricot

I must admit that the main reason to why I bought this was because of the packaging, it comes in a acrylic paint style tube & the details are the same colour of the blush - it's adorable. I chose the shade apricot as I have been loving orange/coral shades, I may buy the lilac or coral shades soon as I think that they would be lovely for Summer. The blush has quite a watery texture, so the application & blending is much easier than a cream blush but this also means that you may squeeze to much product out. The blush is incredibly pigmented, you only need to use a tiny amount to achieve a lovely wash of colour. I purchased this blush for just under £5, you get 10ml of product & as they are quite small & have a secure lid they are perfect for travel.

Sweet Recipe Candy Stick - Orange

I also bought this because of the packaging, I adore candy canes so I couldn't resist adding this to my collection. I chose the orange flavour, as I have been loving all things orange lately. This tinted lip balm is amazing! It is incredibly moisturising, doesn't feel sticky & leaves a lovely orangy-red tint to the lips. The scent is quite strong but once applied it becomes much more subtle & it also tastes like oranges to. The tint lasts for quite a long time on the lips, it fades evenly & leaves a light stain on the lips after it has worn off.

All in all I am incredibly impressed with Etude House & will definitely be buying more products.

Do you love Etude House? What are you favourite products?

Revlon Lip Butter - Tutti Fruiti

Thursday, 22 August 2013

'94% of women felt lips were softer, smoother, and instantly hydrated. Hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter formula boosts lip moisture by 156%'

I must admit I had high expectations for this lip butter because nearly every youtube guru & beauty blogger was raving about them. Although it has taken me quite a long time to pick one up, I usually only stick to a clear lip balm & any coloured lip products I have, probably aren't as loved as they should be.

I adore the packaging, the case is colour coordinated with the shade of the lip butter, it is slightly clear but the same size & has the same quilted effect as the colourburst lipsticks. One of the features on the lip butter is that it has a clear top, so you can easily see what the shade looks like before purchasing.

I have been loving orange shades lately, so I couldn't resist picking up Tutti Fruitti. I am really impressed with the pigmentation of the lip butter. The color payoff is just as amazing as an actual lipstick but is so moisturizing & buttery like a lip butter. My lips feel so hydrated & soft when I apply these, the colour lasts for about 2-3 hours but when it finally wears off I'm left with a gorgeous subtle stain. They are so easy to apply, I don't feel like I need to pay as much attention as I would when I use a lipstick & even though I was expecting a sheer wash of colour, the lip butters are buildable in to a more bold, bright wash of colour.
All in all, I adore the lip butters & will definitely be picking up more.

What shades have you tried?

Bargain Ebay Brushes

Tuesday, 20 August 2013

Hey Dolls.
I love buying affordable make up brushes, so when I stumbled across these Real Techinques dupes on Ebay, I had to give them a go to see if the quality was just as good. The design's are pretty much identical, there is very little difference apart from the fact that the Ebay brushes have a different brand name & only sell face brushes unlike Real Techniques who have a range of eye/brow brsushes.

I ordered three brushes - the buffing brush, angled brush & setting brush. You can get five different brushes from the range & also choose from three colours - Pink, Gold & Blue. They are £2.44 each & have free delivery, as they are from Hong Kong they took up to ten to thirteen days to arrive which I personally think is quite good.

 The Buffing Brush;
When I came across the Ebay brushes I decided to chose one similar to the buffing brush, as I have always been reluctant to buy the whole core collection in order to get just one brush that I want. I wanted to find a less expensive buffing brush without compromising on the quality & I've done just that. The Ebay buffing brush is incredibly soft, it feels sturdy & I haven't experienced any shedding. I use the ebay buffing brush to buff in foundation when I need to build up extra coverage on days where my skin doesn't looks its best.

 The Angled Brush;
The second brush I picked up from the ebay range was the angled brush, I use my blush brush for apply bronzer into the contours of my face but as I also used it for powder blush aswell, it didn't always look great. I wanted a brush that was smaller then the blush brush but did the job just as well. I find this brush picks up just the right amount of bronzer & blends it out flawlessly, it is incredibly soft, sturdy & I haven't experienced any shedding.

 The Setting Brush;
The last brush that I decided to pick up was the setting brush, I usually use a eyeshadow brush to apply powder in the harder to reach places - sides of my nose, under the eyes etc. but a couple of times I forgot that I used it for applying eyeshadow & ended up with shimmer/eyeshadow over my face so I thought it was about time I got a brush for that job only, it is small enough to fit into the harder to reach areas but is also dense enough so I can buff the powder in slightly to give a more flawless finish. I have experienced a tiny bit of shedding with this brush when I first had it but haven't had any since, the brush is incredibly soft that I haven't experienced any discomfort using it on the delicate area's of my face.

The Ebay brushes are a well made, affordable way to build up your brush collection or even start it, I adore Real Techniques but I have to admit the Ebay brushes are amazing dupes & I may pick up more in the future.

Will you be giving these brushes a go?
