Soap & Glory Clean On Me & Flake Away

Tuesday, 31 December 2013

Hey Dolls.
Today I'm going to review two mini Soap & Glory products that I received in my advent calender. I haven't tried anything from soap & glory before so I was super excited. I have been using them for a while now so I thought I'd share my thoughts.

Clean on me is a creamy clarifying shower gel that contains natural mandarin peel extract & a built-in body lotion. It lathers nicely with only a tiny amount of product, it has a great fresh scent that lingers on the skin for a few hours after & it has left my skin feeling softer.

Flake away is a thick smoothing body scrub that contains sweet almond oil, peach seed powder, sea salt & sugar to make sure your skin is as soft as it can possibly be. The scent is identical to Clean On Me but possibly a little stronger. It makes my skin feel amazing, it's a very gentle scrub but really gets the job done.

All in all, these products are incredible & I can't wait to try more from them.

Are you a fan of soap & glory? Have you tried either of these products?

Christmas Bits & Pieces

Monday, 30 December 2013

Hey Dolls.
Today I thought I'd show you some of the things I got for Christmas, I wasn't going to do this post at first because I don't want it to seem like I'm bragging. I'm really not, I am so grateful for everything I have & I can't thank my family, friends, boyfriend & his family enough.

I adore everything I got, I'm so excited to use everything - especially the soap & glory set as it smells amazing & all the body shop goodies! Pamper Time Heaven! I've also been on my 3DS everyday since opening it, I got Animal Crossing New Leaf with it, it is such a great game to pass an hour or five aha. I did receive some other bits & bobs but I didn't want this post to be to long so I just picked things I haven't put away yet.

I adore reading posts like this so if you have done one, send me your links (:

17 Blow Out Mascara

Sunday, 29 December 2013

Hey Dolls.
Today I am going to review the 17 Blow Out Mascara that came in my Boots Advent Calender. I haven't tried anything from this brand before so I was super excited when I opened the box. I started using it as soon as I managed to get it out of the plastic & instantly fell in love.

I have very fair & short lashes so a mascara that claims that it would add 12x the volume made me pretty excited - although that claim seems fairly impossible.. it does do an amazing job at making my nearly non existent lashes look incredible. The very large round bristle brush adds a lot of volume & length without making them clumpy. I find that the formula is quite wet but once on the lashes, it dries in no time at all. I think the thing I love most about this mascara is that my lashes don't go crispy, they feel really natural & it doesn't flake or smudge throughout the day.

All in all this is an amazing mascara, I really like the way it makes my lashes lookI am really excited to try other products from the brand. What would you recommend?

Have you tried this mascara? What are your thoughts?

BBLOGGERS Secret Santa - What I Got

Saturday, 28 December 2013

Hey Dolls.
Today I thought I'd show you what I got from my secret santa. I received this a while before Christmas but kept it wrapped up for Christmas day. When I opened it, I literally squealed! I am a huge fan of Collection & I adore the L'Oreal Confetti Top Coat. Jem did so well especially since she added a gorgeous dark lipstick (:

I've been using the shimmer shades as a eyeshadow/highlight/blush thingy & I love it. The first & fourth squares are big enough to fit my blush brush in & I love that the shimmer isn't to OTT, it gives a nice sutble glow. The second & third are the shades I use for eyeshadow & you only need a tiny amount because they are super pigmented & I was really impressed that there was no fall out.

The mascara is amazing, I have tried it before & was really impressed with how it defined my lashes but kept them look natural.

The L'Oreal topcoat is incredible, it is such great quality & it looks amazing on any nail polish or on it's own. I am really happy that I got this because I'm about half way on the one in my nail polish drawer & I was going to pick up another one next week.

The lipstick is beautiful, it is definitely a shade I would pick for myself. I adore reds & deep vampy ones at that make me a happy girl. This lipstick is so moisturising & lasts for such a long time with no bleeding or smudging.

All in all, I am so happy with what I recieved & I want to say a huge thank you to Jem who put so much thought into my gift. I will definitely be doing another secret santa next year (:

Did you take part is a secret santa? What did you get?

Wishlist #16 - The Fragrance Direct Edit

Friday, 27 December 2013

Hey Dolls.
I have been visiting Fragrance Direct quite a lot lately & I everytime I go on, I add something new to my basket. This is what I have in there so far & would really love to try out.

I have been looking for a brush like this for a long time, I really like the contour brush I'm using at the moment but I think this brush would give me more control when I contour.
I adore the Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara. So when I saw this, I added it to my basket straight away. I would love longer lashes & I'm really intrigued to see if this actually works.
I have never seen this product before, so I'm not sure if it is a new or old product. I really love the idea of mineral makeup, esp since my skin is looking pretty good.
I have heard so many amazing reviews about Maybelline mascaras & since I adore the rocket mascara, I thought it was about time I tried another one.
I've heard some good things about this concealer & I'm always trying to find new products to see if the Collection concealer is really the best out there.
I adore Real Techniques brushes & I have wanted to get these sets for ages. They are such great quality & quite a bit cheaper on FD.
I'm not a fan of Max Factor make up but their brushes/nail tools are amazing. I adore the look of this nail file & would be a lot better than the one I'm using now.

Are you a fan of Fragrance Direct? Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts?

Day 24SEVENTEEN Blow Out Mascara

I am so excited to have some of the products from the advent but I wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be. Out of the 24 products, I was only really excited for 8 & those were the Soap and Glory Clean Girls Body Wash, Balmi Lip Balm - Mint, Vichy Idealia Life Serum, Soap & Glory Scrub, Mavala - Pure Diamond 213, Nails Inc - Porchester Square, Umberto Giannini Glam Hair Back comb in a Bottle & SEVENTEEN Blow Out Mascara. These are products that I have wanted to try or can see myself purchasing. Everytime I opened a door & there was a perfume sample behind it, I was really disappointed, not only do I dislike every scent, you can also get them for free if you ask. I was really excited for the Orly Bonder but when I opened it, the smell gave me the biggest headache but I'm going to give it a few more chances.

All in all, I'm actually quite impressed that I only had one thing that I already own but in a different shade. I think out of everything, the Balmi lip balm is my favourite product but I don't think it was worth £30, in my opinion boots could have done better.

I obviously don't want to seem ungrateful as I won this, I am really happy with the products I do like & will get use out of.

Nyx Wonder Pencil - Light

Monday, 23 December 2013

Hey Dolls.
When I purchased the Nyx Blush - Taupe, I also picked up the wonder pencil. I've been wanting to try the nude eyeliner by Rimmel for a while to brighten up my eyes, so when I read that you can use this to conceal blemishes, line your lips & line the water line..I needed it. I will say that I only use it to liner my water line & lips as I already have my holy grail concealer.

As an eye brightener.
The wonder pencil is amazing, it is really creamy & glides onto the waterline with ease. No tugging what so ever! The colour is also really nice, it looks very natural, stays in place all day & does an amazing job of brightening my eyes.

As a lip liner.
I don't usually wear lipstick but I find that some I own can bleed a little so I was really excited to test this out. I found that it made it easier to apply lipstick, helped it stay in place all day & made the colour stand out more.

All in all, I am very impressed with this pencil. The fact that it is a multi use product makes it great for traveling & it is super easy to sharpen. I have had quite a few pencil products that crumble away once sharpened but thankfully this isn't the case with this one.

Are you a fan of Nyx? What are your thoughts on the wonder pencil?

Mac Lipstick - Rebel

Saturday, 21 December 2013

Hey Dolls.
I have been lusting after this lipstick for a very long time but I could never justify paying £15 for it as I don't wear lipstick all that often. I always put it in my basket while I was on the Mac or Debenhams website & I even tried to find a dupe for it...so when I found out that I won the lovely Latasha's giveaway to win a Mac lipstick..I was so excited. I did check out some other lipstick shades but I always went back to rebel. So today I thought I'd share my thoughts with you.

Ignore the mess. (:

Rebel is a gorgeous plum shade, although the photos doesn't do it justice as in real life it looked much darker. It has a lovely creamy texture & a satin finish, so it effortlessly glides onto the lips. I have read from a few reviews that the satin finish can be a bit drying on the lips so I was a little worried as I already have dry lips but it didn't cling to any dry patches & didn't dry out my lips even after a couple hours of wear. The pigmentation is incredible, the first sweep the colour was opaque & could be easily built into the shade of the actual bullet with a few more applications. I was also really impressed with the fact that it didn't smudge even though I didn't use a lip liner beforehand. The lasting power is amazing, it stayed perfectly for around 6-7 hours & that's with eating & drinking lots but when it did finally start to wear off my lips are left with a beautiful stain.

All in all, I am so impressed with this lipstick. It is definitely worth the money & I will definitely be getting more shades in the future.

Are you a fan of Mac? What is your favourite lipstick?

Michel Mercier Detangling Brush For Thick Hair

Friday, 20 December 2013

Hey Dolls.
I have very thick hair that has a 'I'll do what I want' attitude, it gets tangles with a small gust of wind or if I have a nap...there will be a knot or two. So when I found out I had won the Micel Mercier Detangling Brush For Thick Hair, I was excited. Now I do adore my tangle teezer but it is getting quite old & battered now & although it still works as well, trying something new is always exciting.

"The Michel Mercier detangling brush for thick hair will glide through curly, Afro Caribbean and Thick hair types with ease, dramatically reducing painful tugs and pulls, hair loss and split ends. The thick but flexible bristles are designed especially to target thicker, fuller locks. For those who know the pain of brushing, look no further. The Michel Mercier Brush works perfectly with all hair types, from dry colour damaged hair to thick European, Afro and Asian hair textures. Gone are the days of tugging until the brush handle breaks, it glides smoothly through wet or dry hair, curly or straight, and is even gentle enough to tackle hair extensions and real or synthetic wigs."

This uniquely designed brush comes with a whopping 428 strategically placed bristles which disperse pressure differently when brushing. It's lightweight, easy to hold & it glides through my hair detangling every little tangle & knot without any fuss or pain. I have found that hair loss is reduced when using this & it doesn't take as long as it normally does to make my mane of hair tangle free. I will say that the bristles are quite hard so if you have a sensitive scalp, make sure to be gentle.

All in all, this is an incredible brush & really does live up to it's claims. I wish this brush was around when my mum brushed my hair when I was little, would have made the experience so much better! I'd definitely recommend the Michel Mercier brush to anyone, it comes in three models - Green for normal hair, Pink for fine hair & Blue for thick hair. It retails at £14.95 on the Michel Mercier website.

Have you tried the Michel Mercier Detangling brush? What are your thoughts?

The Body Shop Almond Hand & Nail Cream

Thursday, 19 December 2013

Hey Dolls.
Today I will be sharing my thoughts on the Almond hand & nail cream from The Body Shop.

I adore the scent, it is quite strong at first but once it has been applied to the skin it becomes much more subtle. The hand cream is quite thick but melts & absorbs instantly into the skin without leaving them feeling greasy. It does an amazing job at moisturising my hands & protecting them from the harsh weather, I also really like that you don't need to use a lot of product & the paint tube style packing makes it really easy to dispense the product. The only thing I don't like about the packaging is that they are really easy to break so I am yet to put it in my bag as I don't want it to get battered & explode on all of my things. Other than that, this is an amazing hand cream & I would definitely recommend it.

Are you a fan of The Body Shop? What hand cream scent are you a fan of?

Guest Post | Christmas Party Outfit

Wednesday, 18 December 2013

*All items on this post are from new look and can be found on their site*

Hey everyone, my name is Jess and I blog over at Dungarees and Donuts, and the lovely Ashley has asked me to guest post on her blog which I am super excited about as I love her blog! With christmas and new year fast approaching I decided to make a party outfit, it's not your typical party outfit of a pretty dress and some nice heels this outfit is really out there! But i'm going to talk you through my style choices, if I had the body I'd totally invest in a bralet, in my eyes they're stunning and if you've got a good figure show it off, I love this one because it's super glittery and if you can't show off glitter at this time of year when can you! Next is the wet look trousers I've noticed these have slowly snuck back again! I think they're great as they're like a combination of leggings and skinny jeans but they are more suitable for occasions like parties, as they have more of an edge to them, I saw them in silver too but I preferred the black! Okay so the most "out there" part of the outfit is the shoes, I went for a simple outfit so I could go all out with the shoes, these shoes are the make an entrance shoes of the century that's for sure, I don't think silver shoes are really seen as fashion as they're known more for children at weddings? But these killer heels are gorge! And if you're short like me, these would give you the height you need, and the glitter is an added party touch! If you're not feeling confident to go all out with the shoes I'd recommend a pair of  black glittery stilettos or a nice purple pair, to jazz it up a bit! The bag I understand wouldn't be for everyone as leopard print isn't everyones cuppa tea but I think black clutches are boring and this is just a bit different, once again isn't for everyone and a nice simple black clutch would go fine! Finally the jewellery I went for some nice simple jewellery, I like silver more than gold I think it looks a lot more classy, I love hoop earrings with tied back hair I think they look fabulous, these ones were a personal fave! And to finish off a pretty little bracelet you don't want your other arm to look bare!

What are you loving this party season?

Love Jess
